Court Grants Motion By Nonprofits and Sprint to Extend WiMax Service Through March

Mobile Citizen update: This week Sprint joined us when we asked the court to extend a preliminary injunction that temporarily saved Internet access for the people on the WiMax network. Today, the court approved it. This is a step in the right direction for all of us. The revised shutdown schedule for the Chicago Area is February 2nd. If you have an active hotspot, you can transition to Sprint services. We will let businesses know, when new service can be added.

Treasurer Summers Kicks Off “77 Proud” with Resource Fair and Panel Discussion

On Friday, Chicago City Treasurer Kurt Summers hosted the first “77 Proud” Financial Education Resource Fair, along with a panel discussion, to commence the initiative sponsored by City Treasurer Kurt Summers. January to March, resource fairs will take place across Chicago to raise awareness of financial education and the resources available. This fair is the first in the “77 Proud” initiative. 66 Year Old Routing A Fresh Foods Plan for Local Seniors!

The Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation (GADC) currently has two seniors from the Easter Seals Community Service  program placed in meaningful jobs, at our 7901 S. Racine location. This week we are highlighting the front desk coordinator,  Mr. Dishman. Yes, he is 66 and he is a very active community memeber, of the Your Voice Matters campaign, formed to work on developing the next quality-of-life plan for our community.

Operation Hope Free Holiday Dinner At BJ’s Market!

Today Operation Hope is in full swing! WVON, Johnson Publishing Company, Terry Bishop, The Urban League, Andrea Zopp, State Senator Jacqueline Y. Collins (D-16), Faith Community of St. Sabina  and the owner of BJ’s Market and Bakery are distributing dinners, to all that come to BJ’s, on 79th Racine. Dinners will be distributed today, December 15th, until 7pm. All are welcome.
