Round two of the Together Now fund is closing on August 31st at 11:59PM. As you know, businesses city-wide are eligible, but the focus will be on awarding grants in community areas that received a disproportionately low number of eligible applicants during the first round, particularly South and West Side communities.
This week, Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced a $4.7 million investment that will expand the Illinois Apprenticeship Program to serve an additional 568 residents in training programs over the next two years. Overall, the State of Illinois is making a $20 million investment in the Illinois Apprenticeship Program to support 17,000+ apprenticeships in 2020 alone.
“Black Owned,” a week-long series of live interviews spotlighting greater Chicago’s Black-owned businesses. The special will air during the newscast on ABC7, July 13 – 17 (11:00 a.m. CDT). ABC7 anchor Terrell Brown will interview and highlight various Black business owners whose businesses include a theater, dental group, syrup company, clothing designer and a winemaker.
