On August 14 from 10am-3pm, the Julian D King Gift Foundation will give away school supplies at the Kroc Center Chicago to celebrate “Hatch Day” and the Back to School Health Fair. Through this event needy families can get prepared for the upcoming school year with health checkups and services, and school supplies.

Women veterans in Illinois now have their own community center. City, state and community leaders joined members of “National Women Veterans United” to cut the ribbon for the Illinois Community Women Veteran’s Center in Chicago’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood. The Center is located at 7907-09 South Racine Chicago, IL 60620.
ComEd today announced it has activated its plan to help continue administering its CARE programs, which provides customers in need with financial assistance to pay their electric bills. As a result of state budget issues some social services agencies like CEDA, which administered ComEd’s CARE program, have been shut down.
