Illinois State Senators Collins, Jones honor Jackie Robinson West players

State Senators Jacqueline Y. Collins (D-Chicago 16th) and Emil Jones, III (D-Chicago 14th) honored the players of the Jackie Robinson West Little League baseball team yesterday, joining with local business owners and other community leaders to present them with reproductions of a baseball-themed painting by Annie Lee, a noted African-American artist with Chicago ties who passed away late last year.

The anticipated Grand Opening of Walmart Neighborhood Market in the Auburn Gresham Community took place early morning March 4th! The long aisles filled to capacity with everything shoppers need, from general groceries, colorful fresh fruits and vegetables, to household products. No more running from store to store, this is a new Auburn Gresham’s one-stop shop! 

Oglesby Elementary School 2nd Annual Daddy-Daughter Dance

All elementary school grade girls currently enrolled in Oglesby Elementary School and their fathers or father figures were invited to attend a Daddy-Daughter Dance sponsored by the School Staff, Oglesby Local School Council (LSC) and the Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation. The event was held at Oglesby Elementary School, February 26, 2015. Everyone had a great time!

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has also declared February as American Heart Month to bring awareness to the leading cause of death for both women and men in the United States: heart disease.  We encourage you to wear red all month to promote cardiovascular disease prevention.
