| Dear friends,
Please join Perspectives Charter Schools, Pastor Meeks and Salem Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 18th for a special screening of and discussion about “I Am For Peace”, a 30-minute documentary about how Chicago students are working to create a more peaceful city through their 26 principles of A Disciplined Life.
DATE: February 18, 2015 TIME: 7PM LOCATION: House of Hope ADDRESS: 752 East 114th Street, Chicago, IL 60628
The work that our young Chicago leaders are doing is inspiring, and I am proud to be a part of it. At Perspectives, teaching students to be advocates for peace has always been a part of our mission. Last year, students and staff led a 2,000-person peace march through the South Side of Chicago and earned $35,000 through a Kickstarter campaign to create a peace documentary that conveys the power of our youth. This year, they will grow their peace movement to include 10 schools in Chicago, 5 cities across America, and 3 foreign countries!
The documentary, which also features U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and award-winning performer Jennifer Hudson, is helping raise awareness of their powerful movement. Students are taking the documentary to schools, businesses, and homes throughout Chicago and beyond. We will host a total of 26 screenings from now until the 2015 peace march in June – where we hope you will join us!
We are honored to be hosting one of the very first public screenings of “I Am For Peace”. I know you will be inspired by this powerful film, and I look forward to seeing you on February 18th.
Be for peace with us,
Rhonda |
